After Your Assessment

After the energy assessment it’s time to review your contractor’s recommendations, apply for available rebates and incentives, set a project budget, and choose your improvements:

• Review Your Energy Assessment Report
  • After your assessment, the contractor will send you a report including recommended improvements to your home, estimated energy savings, and cost estimates.  
  • Call the contractor with any questions about the report and recommendations.
• Find Rebates and Incentives and Set a Budget
  • First, determine which financial incentive programs you may qualify for to help pay for the work. Many people qualify for grants, rebates, and / or low-interest loans that can make energy improvements more affordable. Call your contractor with questions. Note that it can take several weeks or more to complete paperwork and be approved.
  • Determine how much money you can afford to pay out of pocket for improvements.
• Choose your Improvements
  • Once you have set a budget and determined eligibility for financial incentive programs, work with your contractor to choose improvements that fit your goals and budget.  
  • You do not necessarily have to implement all of the recommendations at once. Some homeowners make improvements over several years. Work with your contractor to prioritize projects to do first.
