Christmas Tree Farmers to hold Winter Regional Workshops to expand opportunities for growers

For growers who can’t come to the workshop, the workshop will come to them!

The Christmas Tree Farmers Association of New York (CTFANY) is pleased to announce a new plan for offering its winter workshop to members and interested growers across the state: CTFANY will offer not one, but six educational workshops this winter.

One of the regional workshops will be held in Syracuse, co-located with the Empire State Producers’ Expo at the SRC Arena on January 17, 2019. This offers a unique opportunity for members and non-members to engage with each other. In addition, Syracuse still will play host to the Association’s Annual Meeting, which will take place at the Doubletree by Hilton Syracuse on the same day.

In addition to the workshop and Annual Meeting in Syracuse, there will be five other regional workshops. The half-day events are targeted at growers and participants in every corner of New York State:

  • Suffolk County: Riverhead Fire District, Riverhead, Thursday January 24, 2019
  • Washington County: CCE Washington, Hudson Falls, Wednesday January 30, 2019
  • Dutchess County: CCE Dutchess, Millbrook, Thursday January 31, 2019
  • Steuben County: Taylor Memorial Library, Hammondsport, Thursday February 7, 2019
  • Genesee County: BEST Center at GCC, Batavia, Wednesday February 13, 2019

At press time, CTFANY is coordinating with CCE in Northern New York to add one more program during the week of February 18, 2019 – check the website for updates.

The workshops will run from 2 pm to 8 pm and will feature similar programming and the opportunity to receive NYS-DEC Pesticide Applicator credits. All workshops will offer dinner and refreshments so that the experience is consistent regardless of the location.

All workshops are open to members non-members alike. People thinking of getting into Christmas tree farming as well as experienced growers are encouraged to attend. This will be an excellent opportunity to network with other growers and to learn from experts in the field.

The full schedule of events will be available for download from the CTFANY website – www.christmastreesny.org. Continue to check the website for registration information.
