Agriculture
Susan Walker is one of our newest additions to the Steuben team. She became our Agriculture Educator in March 2022. As a Jasper-Troupsburg graduate, her Steuben roots run deep. She holds a Master’s degree in Wildlife Biology and Management from the State University of New York College of Environmental Science and Forestry. She has served as an Extension Associate for Cornell University Department of Natural Resources on Shelter Island, NY, as a Wildlife Technician for the NYSDEC Region 5 in Warrensburg, NY, and as a Graduate Research Assistant for the Adirondack Ecological Center/SUNY ESF.
At CCE Steuben Susan is planning, developing, coordinating, and implementing program activities that enhance the economic viability of agriculture and agribusiness within the county. She works closely with Agriculture, Natural Resources, Local Foods, and Master Gardener Programs. Her goal is to strengthen her agricultural and horticultural knowledge base and gain a solid understanding of the programming needs to better serve farmers and the community.
Susan lives in Cameron Mills with her husband, Dustin and their three daughters and a dog and a cat. She enjoys hiking, crafting/sewing with her children, gardening/landscaping, outdoor recreation sports and activities, and reading.
Her diligent, energetic, and positive attitude will bring determination and consistency to the agriculture program at CCE Steuben.
