These summer adventures are for youth ages 8-18:

Sew Much Fun I
July 9 - Aug 6
1:00-2:00 p.m.

Come learn how to “drive” a sewing machine, then put your new skills to work to make several projects to take home

Sew Much Fun II
July 9 - Aug 6
2:30-3:30 p.m.

For those who have basic sewing machine knowledge we will do a quick review of basic skills, followed by several sewing projects that can be taken home.

Cooking Matters for Families
July 9 - Aug 20
5:00-7:00 p.m.

Cooking Matters for Families partners a school-aged child and a parent together to learn about healthy eating, planning meals as a family, and working together in the kitchen.

Classes meet for two hours, once a week for six weeks and are taught by Nutrition Educators from Cornell Cooperative Extension of Steuben County. Lessons cover meal preparation, grocery shopping, food budgeting, and nutrition. Participants practice fundamental food skills, including proper knife techniques, reading ingredient labels, and making a healthy meal for a family of four on a $10 budget.The final class will be a grocery store challenge where teams put what they’ve learned to the test and shop for groceries for a meal for a family of four with just $10 (provided from CCE)!

4-H members 8 years old and up, plus a parent are invited to participate!

Dates: Tuesdays – July 9th, 16th, 23rd, 30th, August 6th, 13th, 20th

Cooking Matters for Kids
July 10 - Aug 21
2:00-3:30 p.m.

Cooking Matters for Kids helps empowers school-aged children to make their own tasty meals and snacks at home, make smart choices wherever they go at school, out to eat, or at the store.

Classes meet for 90 minutes, once a week for six weeks and are taught by Nutrition Educators from Cornell Cooperative Extension of Steuben County. Lessons cover meal preparation, practicing making smart choices at the grocery store, and other topics. Participants practice hands-on fundamental food skills, including proper knife techniques, reading ingredient labels, and making tasty treats.

Youth 8 years old and up may participate!

Parents are invited to stay and participate in activities as well.

Dates: Wednesdays –July 10th, 17th, 24th, 31st, August 7th, 14th, 21st.
Time: 2:00 PM– 3:30 PM
