FLX Gives 2020
Help us make history!
FLXGives, the 24-hour giving movement in our community, is almost here!
On November 13th Cornell Cooperative Extension of Steuben County is joining nonprofits from all across the Finger Lakes region that day to raise money for a cause. And CCE Steuben’s cause is an updated, accessible bathroom facility for our 4-H’ers near the fairgrounds show ring and cow barn.
The kids spend days at the show pavilion and barns during the summer grooming their animals and preparing their projects to showcase for the judges. Many of them have spent all year long preparing for this chance to earn a blue ribbon. They deserve a bathroom that is close to their stalls…one that is handicapped accessible…and safe! Half of the money has already been raised and a local architect has drawn up plans for the building. Our goal for FLXGives Day is $12,000 which would put us on the road to groundbreaking.
Donations can begin at 12:01 a.m. on November 13 and must stop at 11:59 p.m. CCE Steuben’s donation page can be found at http://bit.ly/buildthe4Hbathroom. The Steuben County 4-H & FFA Market Animal Sale Committee will match the first $2,000 raised in donations. So please bookmark our donation page and help us reach our goal on Nov. 13.
A few ways you can really help include:
- Any youth who donates (there is a box to check if the gift is from someone under age 18) will have $10 added to their gift.
- Visit facebook.com/communitygiving on Nov. 13 and find the post asking you to comment on your favorite nonprofit- and write CCE Steuben in the comments. It could earn us an additional $500.
- Give your donation between 8:00-10:00 p.m. at night! It could earn us $500.
- Become a Fundraising Champion. Click on the FUNDRAISE button on our donation page at http://bit.ly/buildthe4Hbathroom and challenge your friends and family to help our kids get this new bathroom.

Meet our 4-H'ers
Meet Carter:
This is Carter's first year in 4-H and he has been working hard in the beginner clothing program. He is in the Boots & Clovers 4-H Club and says "I enjoyed making the book bag because it helped me learn to sew."
Meet Grace:
Grace is a member of the Country Critters 4-H Club and has been in 4-H for 6 years. She says, "I want to continue improving showing my animals. I'd like to thank all 4-H, my family, and my 4-H leader for their support. I enjoy being in 4-H because I get to show my animals and do craft projects." In the future Grace would like to become a chef.
Meet Issac:
Isaac is a member of the Country Bunch 4-H Club and has been in 4-H for 6 years. "I like 4-H because it has a lot to offer. There is a lot you can do that will help you reach your goals. In years past Rusty, a Chihuahua/Maltese, has earned grand champion in the State Fair. Last year I earned a blue ribbon at the county fair with Teddy, a beginner and very energetic 3-year-old Cairn Terrier." In the future, Isaac would like to become a veterinarian.

April 2021 - Our 4-H'ers are so excited that we raised enough money during our FLXGives Day event last November to construct their new bathroom at the Steuben County Fairgrounds in Bath. Your gift and many more are the reason we can teach these kids not only life skills but also community cooperation.
We plan to stay in touch with you every step of the way and show you our progress. At this time, with the current price of lumber and other supplies, the planning committee feels its is better to wait until fall or next year to begin construction. Current prices are double what they were last year, and we want to be good stewards of the money you have donated for this cause. So we are hoping a delay in the building project will enable us to get supplies at a more reasonable rate. We do not want to run out of funds to complete the project simply because of inflated prices.
