Steuben County is home to nearly 1,650 family-owned and operated farms, and more agricultural acreage than any other county in New York. Farmers’ Markets provide opportunities for many of these farmers to sell their products directly to consumers. Purchasing food that has been grown and harvested locally has several benefits, in addition to providing consumers high quality, fresh food—it strengthens the regional economy, preserves the natural environment, fosters community growth, and lets consumers connect directly with local producers.
